Governance

The bold ambition of the project and the involvement of so many parties across Europe has instigated a model of governance to guarantee the maximum effectiveness and efficiency, as well as to assure the transparency and independence of the group.


The structure includes a Steering Committee, a Management Team, a Technical Support and a growing number of Working Groups. In addition, a systematic audit of the activities is undertaken.



The Steering Committee

The Steering Committee represents the group of high-level stakeholders and reputed experts, who are responsible for providing guidance on the overall strategic direction. The Steering Committee is the combination of direct and indirect stakeholders and its main role is to fix guidelines, objectives and allocation of resources.



The Management Team

The Management team have the responsibility for the effective operational functioning of OpenTEA.



The Technical support

The Technical support have the main responsibility of the practical development as well as the technical maintenance of the web platform. The technical support as external contribution is guaranteed at the moment by Apogee (www.apogee.gr).



The expert Working Groups

A growing number of topics are discussed in OpenTEA and for each one a specific working group of experts is/will be established.

Members of each working groups are internationally recognized technical experts, policy makers and professionals from industry and NGOs in the field of agriculture, public health, economics and politics. Nominated by the Steering Committee, they use their individual knowledge and experience to provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to develop the OpenTEA activity.

In particular, the Expert Working Group is responsible to guarantee the scientific consistency and the efficacy of all the e-training and e-learning material uploaded in the platform regarding the topic they are refereeing to. For this purpose, they are responsible also of the revision process that all the materials need to follow to be uploaded in OpenTEA.

At the moment the Working Groups established are:



a) WG 1 on sustainable use of pesticide

The main objective of this WG is to promote an e-training platform where users can build their own training program combining different training material already available about the use of pesticides. This activity is developed in the frame of the European project BROWSE (www.browseproject.eu).



b) WG 2 on sustainability in the wine sector

The main objective of this WG is to promote introduction e-learning courses on sustainability in the wine sector. The courses are developed with the contribution of several experts working in research institutes participating in the project V.I.V.A. (www.viticolturasostenibile.org).
